This is actually a drawing I've been working on for almost eight years, well, not really. Almost eight years ago I did some pages for San Diego Comic Con based on the spy genre. Most people trying to get into the business draw 3-4 pages of Batman or Wolverine. This was the first time I was trying to do a whole different genre. Of course I had no idea how to accomplish it. I didn't have the internet at the time and only a rudimentary knowledge of computers, so I had to scavenge for research material, a book here, a prop there. Nowadays they look really bad but I did get to visit Top Cow's studio in Santa Monica. It didn't work out, but it was the closest I ever got to working in the business. This is an attempt to capture the tone of a spy story with all the new tools I have, it's not perfect, but none of my drawings are.Monday, June 23, 2008
