Aspens

Here's a quick painting I did from a picture I took at Durango over eight years ago. I did a watercolor of it many years ago but the medium was extremely difficult to use on this subject. I wanted to continue my experiments with acrylic. Six years after I took the photo I was walking through Santa Fe and saw a photograph of the exact location at the exact time. It was kind of hard to forget the locations of the trees after spending a week painting them. The picture was taken a few miles north of Durango, near Purgatory. It was a good year for Fall color. Good timing I guess.
